I know in the fandom there at least were a lot of people who hate(d) kouen, but all things considered, he really did have the best interest of his country/family/the world in mind, methods be damned. hakuryuu was too blinded by his revenge but now what is he going to do? join the seven seas alliance and possibly fall under the manipulation of david and/or arba, if he hasn’t already? like, kouen’s idea of world domination seems irrational and ruthless, but he did try to avoid war and sacrificing lives as much as possible, as opposed to hakuryuu who threw the kou empire in turmoil by killing gyokuen and then followed up with a civil war (sacrificing the majority of the soldiers who were FORCED on his side no less) and now is taking the throne with no concrete goal in mind… to conclude I can honestly say I would have preferred kouen keep the throne rather than hakuryuu take it

but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see for alibaba and judal to come back. hopefully judal grew out of being a little bitch and can talk some sense into hakuryuu or at least not make things worse than they are
